Undergraduate Program for Specialty in Communication Studies

Part 1. Undergraduate Program Scheme

. Length of Schooling

The normal length of time required to complete the program is 4 years of full-time study. The minimal length is 3 years and the maximal length is 6 years.

. Degree

Bachelor of Arts

. Requirements of Graduation and Degree

Students who complete the required credits and comply with Academic Regulations of Beijing Jiaotong University for Undergraduate Students will be awarded an undergraduate diploma in Communication Studies.

Students who meet graduation requirements and meet the requirement ofImplementation Rules of Beijing Jiaotong University for Granting Bachelors’ Degree to Undergraduates, as examined and approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the school, will receive the Bachelor of Arts degree.

. SpecialtyOrientation

The Specialty is oriented towards practical Communication. It features in professional practice and combination of the Arts and Science education, with an aim to cultivate students with communication skills, and humanities spirit.  With an emphasis on language communication skills , theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge, with the development of visual communication and business communication specialties and with the cultivation of talents with solid communication skills and deep cultural accomplishment, the major strives to be one of the best nationwide.

. Program Objectives

The major aims to cultivate talents who love mass communications industry with a high degree of social responsibility, a good knowledge in both mass communication theory and Communication art and technology, strong foreign language and computer skills as well as practical skills in the field. Graduates can work in various sectors in communication industry and in all types of enterprises and institutions, doing visual communication, brand communication, marketing communication and offering public relations services.
